Jobs are set to be created thanks to the opening of a new casino in Blackpool.
A new casino in Blackpool is set to create 80 jobs and save three clubs from closure.Blackpool Council granted planning permission for the new casino on the town's Bloomfield Road last night (March 15th) infront of more than 100 supporters of the proposals, the Blackpool Gazette reports.
The deal had initially been rejected but an appeal by Pierre Coulon, owner of the former Paris Casino on Lytham Road - which burned down last July - was approved.
The newspaper reports that workers, including five former casino managers, cried tears of joy when unconditional permission was granted.
"To say I'm ecstatic is an understatement. I had 60 workers, almost all of who could not find jobs. I'm so glad the council saw sense," said Mr Coulon.
He added that he hopes to "spruce up" the club and open it in three months, providing jobs for all his former workers and up to 20 more.
Gamers could enjoy playing online casino games when a visit to a real casino is not possible.
