A poker player has secured his place in a tournament final.
A Swindon poker player has won his place in the final of the Redtooth Poker tournament, reports the Swindon Advertiser.Daniel Mitchell, from Rodbourne, won the south-west and Wales regional heat in Bristol bagging £500 in the process.
The 35-year-old accountant began playing poker in 2004 and will now have a chance to win £5,000 at the final on March 28th.
The final, which takes place in Nottingham, will see Mr Mitchell bluff the likes of ex-England footballer Teddy Sheringham in the 400-strong field.
Mr Mitchell was keen to emphasise that playing the game was not about the money for him.
"I generally play small games with little or no stakes but the reality is that the higher stakes, the better players you are up against and thus have a higher standard of game," he explains.
Mr Mitchell began the final table in the regional heat as the chip leader, 95,000 in chips ahead of his closest rival.
