Bookmakers William Hill has revealed odds for the future of Newcastle United, following their promotion to the Premier League.

The Magpies have enjoyed the kind of season they would have been hoping for and sealed their return to the top flight this weekend after just one season in the Championship.

Odds of 4/9 are available for the north-east club to avoid relegation next season, while it is 13/8 for them to go straight back down.

"[Chris] Hughton has done admirably to steer the club back into the top flight - but now they are back there he should beware of higher profile names sniffing around and putting themselves forward to take over," said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

In years gone by Newcastle have been serious challengers for the Premier League title and optimistic betters could fancy a punt on the club lifting the trophy at the end of next season at odds of 5,000/1.
