Gambling Commission announces plans to help businesses prevent under-age gambling.
Adult gaming centres have received praise for their efforts to prevent under-age gambling.Research by the Gambling Commission revealed improvements had been made and the majority of sites tested prevented someone younger than 18-years-old from gambling.
It also announced plans to work with individual operators and the industry as a whole to assist them in making further progress by encouraging measures such as self-testing and the sharing of good business practice.
The director of regulation at the commission, Nick Tofiluk, said: "While these results are encouraging, young people under 18 are not permitted to gamble in adult gaming centres."
He added efforts to improve will continue and test purchase exercises, by both the organisation and local authorities, will continue.
The Gambling Commission - formed in 2005 - is responsible for the regulation of commercial gambling in the UK and oversees activities such as casinos, bingo, betting, arcades and British-based remote gambling operators.
