Michael Mizrachi has earned more than $8.6 million from poker.

Following the completion of the final poker tournament on the World Series of Poker tour, Michael Mizrachi has been named as the triumphant player with winnings of more than $1.5 million (£1.02 million).

The poker player, nicknamed The Grinder, picked up his first bracelet after securing top place in the $50,000 Poker Player's Championship that finished yesterday (June 2nd).

It means Mizrachi has now garnered more than $8.6 million from professional poker tournaments throughout his career.

A particularly tough moment during his most recent success came when he eliminated his brother David, who went on to finish fifth.

In addition to the title and his first bracelet, Mizrachi also took home the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy, beating competition from Vladimir Schmelev.

Other prestigious poker tournaments to have been held recently include the World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational, where TV star Ricki Lake made it to the final of the three-week contest.
