The World Cup could bring more claim disputes.
Football fans hoping to do some sports betting during this year's World Cup should make sure they are using a licensed operator.According to the Gambling Commission, the tournament is set to become one of the biggest betting events ever for bookmakers in the UK, which means an increased number of disputes over claims.
With the Independent Betting Adjudication Service distributing guidelines for both betting organisations and punters recently, the commission has told businesses to ensure that they have proper resolution procedures in place.
Julia Mackisack, director of corporate affairs at the Gambling Commission, said: "Disputes can arise, especially where extra time is played and whilst customers are advised to check on the rules before betting."
She added that those working with the organisation are required to have a fair service in place.
The Gambling Commission is part of the Gambling Act 2005, which was brought in to regulate betting services in the UK.
