WSOP is more than halfway into its stay in Las Vegas.
Poker player Eric Rodawig has become the latest competitor to win a World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet at the tour's event in Las Vegas. The relatively unknown entrant came through a field including stars such as Phil Hellmuth Jr and John Racener, who finished second and third respectively.
Rodawig secured the title in the 2011 Seven-Card Stud High-Low Split, which is sure to propel him into the poker spotlight.
The banker from the suburbs of Washington DC combines his work in the financial sector with a passion for poker, which includes him both playing the game and teaching for training website Cardrunners.
It is only the third time Rodawig has even cashed at a WSOP event and his triumph was clearly devastating to Hellmuth, who is chasing an unprecedented 12th WSOP gold bracelet.
WSOP is due to remain in the Nevada city until July 7th by when 58 poker tournaments will have been completed.
