Elie Payan is WSOP's latest winner.
The French poker scene appears to be thriving, with the country boasting yet another World Series of Poker (WSOP) winner.Earlier this week, Bertrand Grospellier triumphed in the Seven-Card Stud World Championship, meaning he won a gold bracelet for the first time.
He has now been joined by countryman Elie Payan, who has struck gold in the $1,500 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha event in Las Vegas.
It is not the first time Payan has been successful in poker tournaments, according to WSOP, although most of his previous victories have come in Europe.
In securing this latest title, the Frenchman beat the challenges of some 170 other players, who created a huge prize pool from which Payan took $292,825 (£181,375).
WSOP noted that its newest champion showed off a particularly impressive poker face throughout the contest.
French joy in Vegas comes shortly after two Englishmen – Matt Perrins and Jake Cody – won similar titles within days of each other.
