Newport city centre could soon become home to the only casino in Gwent, providing the green light is given to a planning application.Permission for construction is being sought by Alan Darlow, owner of AMD Properties, who has sent the application to Newport Council, online poker players may be interested to learn.
Under the terms of the application, Mr Darlow hopes to turn first floor offices in part of the city centre into a casino.
AMD properties hopes to rent the building to a professional casino operator in order to provide a top gaming facility for people in the city.
It has been confirmed that the planning application will be officially handed to a committee on October 22nd.
"Cardiff, Swansea and Bristol all have casinos. We are a city, too. It will save people travelling to other casinos and will keep money in the city," Mr Darlow said.
The premises were around 2,500 sq ft, according to Mr Darlow, who explained that it would be able to fit the usual casino games in addition to a lounge area.
