Lifting Gambling Restrictions 'Could Stimulate Economic Growth', Says NCIF

The government could help to improve the state of the economy by lifting restrictions on gambling in the UK.

This is according to the National Casino Industry Forum (NCIF), which is calling for greater flexibility in terms of where casinos can be located.

Furthermore, the NCIF said that it wants to see more flexibility in the number of gaming machines a casino can use, in addition to stake limits.

According to the body, these changes would generate an impressive 11,000 full-time jobs in casinos and their supply chains.

And just as importantly, the NCIF said that it would create an extra £80 million in tax revenues, online poker players may be interested to learn.

NCIF chairman Malcolm Moss said: "Casinos are recognised as the safest environment in which to enjoy gambling as a mainstream leisure activity. That should be reflected in the law."

Mr Moss told the Commons Culture Select Committee that the industry wanted "sensible modest reforms".
