Voters Back Legalisation Of Online Gambling

A new poll has revealed that a majority of voters in California support the legalisation of online gambling, bookmakersinc.co.uk has reported.

Under new proposals, lawmakers in the US state will make the practice legal as early as January, UK online poker players may be interested to learn.

The poll found that 53 per cent of Californian voters would support the introduction of online poker, providing the proceeds are used as tax revenue.

Given the financial troubles of California, the legalisation of online gambling could prove to be a huge boon for the state.

In the UK, the government recently acted to bring online gaming into line with the country's land-based venues by outlawing the use of credit cards.

And following this move, Ireland seems set to tighten controls on the use of credit cards in the gaming industry.

Indeed, the government will soon force Irish operators to conduct 'due diligence' on gamers in the gap between when they get their registration and when they get permission to begin gambling.
