The Rank Group has confirmed that it is on the cusp of becoming the UK's biggest casino operator, revealing that it has held constructive talks with debt-laden rival Gala Coral over a potential takeover.If the talks prove successful, Rank will overtake Malaysian firm Genting as the biggest firm in the sector, online poker players and others will be keen to know.
A report in the Sunday Times has suggested that the deal could be worth as much as £250 million, although Rank has stressed that an agreement has yet to be reached.

By the end of 2015, Rank hopes to have as many as 45 Grosvenor outlets under its control.
Genting is currently the UK's biggest casino operator, boasting 45 sites across the country. The firm's flagship site is found in the glamorous surroundings of Mayfair in London.
