Scarborough Sees Casino Dream Evaporate

Officials in Scarborough have confirmed that the town could soon see the opening of a new multiplex cinema after the five-year saga to build a small casino ended, online poker players and others may be interested to learn.

Indeed, it has been revealed that Apollo Leisure, the company that operates the Open Air Theatre, has withdrawn from the bidding process, meaning there is no immediate prospect of the town having a new casino site constructed.

Nikolas Shaw, the firm that has been handed the casino licence, has welcomed the news and confirmed that it intends to press on with plans to build a new cinema on the site where the gaming facility was supposed to have been.

Speaking to the Scarborough Evening News, the firm said: "Everyone at Opera House Casino is absolutely delighted with the news that we have been awarded the small casino licence.

"We hope that this will now pave the way for us to be granted preferred bidder status for the development of North Street, which will hopefully result in the people of Scarborough getting their long-awaited multiplex cinema."
