Steve Wynn, the world famous chief executive of Wynn Resorts, has tried to play down the significance of an ongoing battle with the company's largest shareholders.Recently, Kazuo Okada, a director of Wynn Resorts, began legal proceedings against the gaming giant on the basis that he has been denied access to details of the firm's finances.
Specifically, Mr Okada is keen to learn why Wynn has pledged to donate $135 million to the University of Macau, asking whether it "is an appropriate use of corporate funds".
Hitting back in the high-profile row, Mr Wynn has dismissed his rival's idea of running a new casino in the Philippines.
"We have expressed our convictions that it was not an appropriate business opportunity for us for a couple of years now," he commented.
"For reasons that are best known to Mr Okada, he has not enjoyed that disagreement and it has created a problem for him."
