Online gambling soon to be legal in Italy

After Italy tried to ban all IP addresses of online gambling site in February it seems that things have changed. Much like the UK, Italy is now moving towards regulating the online gambling industry. Starting on January 1, 2007, it will no longer be illegal for Italian citizens to gamble online.

Korea Air starts regular non-stop flights to Las Vegas

Koreans can now fly regularly to Las Vegas. Korean Air will provide three non-stop flights a week from Seoul Incheon to McCarran International Airport. This decision follows Japan Airlines’ announced its plan to discontinue its three weekly nonstop flights to McCarran Airport in Las Vegas from Narita International Airport in Tokyo.

Calgary Catholic schools quit using casinos as fundraisers

The Las Vegas fire department reported a 3-alarm fire at The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. Traffic was closed off on Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road as a result while the fire department handled the fire.

Church of England calls for regulation of gambling advertising

In statement issued by the Church of England has requested that all advertisements that promote gambling will carry health warnings about the danger of developing gambling addiction. The Church claims that the potential benefits of doing this should outweigh the drawback of extra financial costs for advertisers.

South Korea initiates programs to fight student online gambling addiction

A new plan to prevent Internet addiction as well as online gambling was revealed by the South Korean government. The plan is suppose to help fight addiction among the nation's student population. It includes providing educational materials, group counseling, and dedicates one day every week in which students will not be able to use the Internet for recreational purposes.

Ohio Representative admits accepting thousands of dollars in casino chips

Bob Ney, an Ohio representative, admitted of improperly accepting tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of gambling chips from a businessman in London. The Justice Department said Ney accepted the casino chips and parlayed them into $50,000 in total gambling winnings playing card games.
