The world of gambling got a major boost in player numbers and in popularity since the ascension of the internet and specifically online gambling. The popularity of online poker and the televised tournaments that followed provided an invaluable tool in legitimizing regular poker, online poker, casino games and gambling as a concept in the public eye, and as a normal avenue for fun and excitement.

Online poker today is not considered shady and risky but a sport and a skill based game. While other games do not share this with Poker, it does cast a positive light on the whole online gambling world and make it clearer that casinos have a place in Las Vegas and Atlantic City but also in the vast universe called the internet.
